The increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus in Norway has again set an anti-record. As the country is facing the third wave of coronavirus, new restrictions may be applied, Minister of Health Bent Høie said, Report informs referring to RIA Novosti.
Over the past day, the increase in infection cases in Norway has amounted to 1,156, with 495 cases registered in Oslo.
“We have entered the third wave of coronavirus, but I believe that we will cope with it again,” said Høie.
"We see that the most contagious strain of the coronavirus has led to a sharp increase in the number of infections, especially in Oslo. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce more stringent measures, such as those currently in force in Oslo, Viken and some other parts of the country," the minister explained.
He believes that if the situation doesn’t improve, measures will have to be introduced at the national level.
The country's authorities pin hopes on the vaccination. More than 488,300 people have already received the first dose in Norway.
