British Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said on Sept. 15 that he would be leaving his post, as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson started making changes to his top ministerial team, Report informs referring to Xinhua.
“It has been a privilege to serve as Education Secretary since 2019,” Williamson said on Twitter. “I look forward to continuing to support the Prime Minister and the government.”
He said he’s proud of the transformational reforms he had led in Post 16 education: in further education colleges, Skills agenda, apprenticeships, and more, despite challenges of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The removal of Williamson from his post came as he was criticized for his handling of disruption to schools and exams during the pandemic, according to local media.
Meanwhile, Robert Buckland has been removed as Justice Secretary.
