Vaccinated US residents may no longer wear masks and maintain social distancing, Head of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Rochelle Walensky said, Report informs referring to CDC website.
“If you are fully vaccinated against COVID19, you can now start doing things that you had stopped doing because of the pandemic. You can participate in indoor and outdoor activities - large or small - without wearing a mask or physically distancing,” she said during a briefing.
At the same time, even those who have already been vaccinated will still need to wear masks on planes, trains, buses. The new recommendations didn’t include several institutions, such as hospitals, nursing homes and prisons.
“Fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance,” reads a message on the CDC website.
CDC claims that the decision to lift the requirement related to wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing was made based on scientific evidence indicating that vaccination reduces the risk of infection and transmission of the virus, and not only prevents severe COVID-19 and death related to it.
