Vietnam, Indonesia, UAE show interest in BrahMos missiles

The Russian-Indian company BrahMos Aerospace is discussing the supply of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles with Vietnam, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), BrahMos Aerospace Managing Co-Director Alexander Maksichev said, Report informs via TASS.

"There are talks with Indonesia, Vietnam, and the [United Arab] Emirates. These are the countries that have shown interest first," he said.

"These three countries," Maksichev added, responding to a question about potential contract signings for BrahMos missiles.

He did not elaborate on the current stage of negotiations regarding possible weapons procurement.

The BrahMos missile was developed by the Russian enterprise "NPO Mashinostroyeniya" and India's Defence Research and Development Organisation. Its first test launch took place in 2001. Various modifications are currently in service with the Indian Air Force, Navy, and Army. BrahMos Aerospace also offers these missiles for export to third countries. The Philippines became the first foreign customer.
