Voting resumes in Czech Republic in second round of presidential elections

Voting has resumed in the second round of the Czech Republic’s presidential elections, those of the 8.25 million voters who had no time to vote on January 27 can do so on January 28 until 2 p.m. local time, Report informs referring to Czech TV.

The first round of the presidential elections in the Czech Republic took place on January 13-14, the turnout was 68.24%. The army general in the reserve, ex-head of the NATO military committee, 61-year-old Petr Pavel, received 35.4% and took first place, and ex-prime minister and dollar billionaire, 68-year-old Andrej Babis, came second with 34.99%. They advanced to the second round, which takes place on January 27-28.

In order to win the election, one of the candidates in the second round is enough to get a simple majority of votes. Preliminary voting results will be summed up on January 28 evening, and on January 29 morning the CEC will announce the official results. The inauguration of the new president will take place on March 8.
