A 5G mobile communication system has been launched in test mode since July 29 on the territory of Turkiye's largest air harbor, Istanbul Airport.

Report informs referring to Anadolu that the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoglu took part in the ceremony of launching 5G services in test mode.

According to the minister, from now on, users of three operators (Turkcell, Türk Telekom, and Vodafone) with mobile devices supporting 5G services will be able to use the service at the airport.

He stressed that the introduction of modern technologies is one of the priorities of the Turkish government.

Karaismailoglu noted that fifth-generation communication technologies should be developed and produced in Turkiye.

He noted that according to expert estimates, the volume of investments in the field of global communications in the period from 2020-2025 reach $1.1 trillion. At the same time, 5G technologies are called the key to digital transformation.

The minister recalled that the volume of investments in the telecommunications sector over the past 20 years had exceeded $183 billion.

He assured that in the near future, fifth-generation communication technologies would be available throughout Turkiye. Tenders for the introduction of 5G technologies are planned to be announced in 2023.
