Moving away from the old Soviet standards, approaches, and instructions in creating the Armed Forces helps strengthen combat potential. Azerbaijan demonstrated this practically for the first time, Fedor Venislavsky, the chairman of the Defense and State Security Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine told Report.
"The transition to NATO standards, the use of greater initiative by officers who can make decisions based on the assessment of the situation on the battlefield, etc. significantly increases both the tactical, operational, and strategic capabilities of the Armed Forces," Venislavsky stated.
"That's why, I think that as soon as we finalize the transition to NATO standards, the Ukrainian army, like the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, will see that they have significantly increased their potential," he added.
"Despite the temporary occupation of its territory by another country, Azerbaijan managed to raise its Armed Forces to a new quality level and liberated its occupied lands. This is a good example for us," the chairman noted.
