The Ambassador of Belarus to Tbilisi has been summoned to the Georgian Foreign Ministry due to the visit of President Alexander Lukashenko to Abkhazia, Imedi TV said, Report informs via TASS.
Georgian media report that Lukashenko's unofficial visit to Abkhazia is taking place without Tbilisi's consent. The Georgian authorities have not yet made any comments or expressed their position.
On September 26, Lukashenko was in Sochi, Russia, on a working visit and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Abkhazia is a breakaway republic backed by Russia that seceded from Georgia.
Majority of UN members, including Belarus, recognize Abkhazia as part of Georgia's sovereign territory.
