Delivery of coronavirus vaccine to Georgia delayed

"Delivery of coronavirus vaccine to Georgia through the COVAX platform is delayed by 2-3 weeks," Georgian Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia told at a briefing, the local Bureau of Report informs.

According to her, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Bosnia, and Herzegovina had to receive the Pfizer vaccine by the end of February: "The delivery date has been postponed for these four countries. We continue to work with COVAX and expect the delay to be resolved as soon as possible."

Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of the Georgian National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, said $575,000 had been transferred to the COVAX facility.

"The vaccine will be delivered to Georgia via the platform this month, and vaccination will start in the country," he said.
