Turkiye has deployed UAVs in Northern Cyprus, including attack drones, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in an interview with journalists who accompanied him to the first summit of the European Political Community in Prague, Report informs referring to Anadolu Agency.
“I do not rule out new deliveries of weapons to the island. This is our right. We must completely secure the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus from all directions,” the Turkish leader said.
He commented on the possibility of creating a new Turkish military base on the Karpaz Peninsula in Northern Cyprus.
He noted that Turkiye’s first reaction to the US decision to lift the embargo on arms supplies to Greek Cyprus was the deployment of attack UAVs in the territory of Northern Cyprus.
Erdogan pointed out that regardless of the decision to create a military base, Turkish Air Force planes taking off from Turkiye today can reach the island in no time. “There are no problems in this matter either,” he assured.
