Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced his intention to hold telephone conversations with Finnish leader Sauli Niinistö and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on May 21, Report informs referring to the Turkish media.

Erdogan said that in the current conditions, Ankara cannot give consent to the entry of Sweden and Finland into the NATO bloc. The Turkish leader said that on May 21 he discussed Stockholm's and Helsinki's NATO bid with the prime minister of the Netherlands, and talks with representatives of the UK and Finland are scheduled for May 21.

Erdogan noted that the European Union adheres to double standards in the fight against the PKK terrorist organization and its offshoots, which pose a real threat to Turkiye’s national security.

The EU recognizes the PKK as a terrorist organization, but does not consider the Syrian wing of this bloody organization, the YPG, as such, Erdogan stated.

"The representatives of this terrorist organization are having a dialogue not only in the EU, but even in the United States," the Turkish leader stressed.

He said that terrorists are actively supported in Germany, Finland and Sweden.
