Turkiye and Qatar have discussed issues of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the military and security spheres. Discussions were held at the fifth meeting of the Supreme Military Committee of the two countries in Doha, according to the Ministry of Defense of Qatar, Report informs referring to Anadolu Agency.
The meeting was attended by Chiefs of the General Staffs of the Armed Forces of Turkiye and Qatar Yasar Guler and Salim bin Hamed Akil al-Nabit, as well as high-ranking military officials of the two countries.
After the meeting, Guler visited the Turkish Embassy in Doha, as well as the Command of the Joint Forces of Turkiye and Qatar.
In accordance with the Joint Agreement between the Republic of Turkiye and the State of Qatar on the establishment of the Supreme Strategic Committee, signed on December 19, 2014, cooperation was established between the two countries in the field of military training and the defense industry and the Turkish Armed Forces were provided with a military base in Qatar.
In accordance with the agreement, the Turkish Armed Forces are deployed in Qatar. At the same time, joint military exercises are being conducted on a systematic basis.
