Five prisoners in Urmia city of Iran’s West Azerbaijan province will have their fingers amputated, Report informs via Azad Iran.
Amnesty International has demanded in its statement that the Iranian authorities revoke the sentence of finger amputation for five prisoners in Urmia prison of West Azerbaijan province.
The organization has asked the international community to pressure Tehran to stop the punishment of amputation of prisoners' body parts: "These amputations are particularly horrific manifestations of the Iranian authorities' assault on human rights and dignity. Amputation punishment is torture carried out by court order and is considered a crime."
A few days ago, four fingers of the right hands of brothers Shahab and Mehrdad Teymouri, who were accused of theft, were amputated in Urmia prison.
