Former head of Moldova could face up to 20 years in prison

The detained ex-President of Moldova Igor Dodon, who is suspected of corruption and treason, could face up to 20 years in prison, lawyer, former member of parliament Valery Nagachevsky told RIA Novosti, Report informs.

“Given that Dodon is suspected of violating four articles of the Criminal Code of Moldova, then it is necessary to determine which of them provides for the most severe punishment - treason. If an investigation is carried out, he will be charged under this article, the case will be taken to court and the court will agree with the arguments of the prosecutor, Dodon could face a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 12 to 20 years,” Nagachevsky said.
