Four convicts executed in Iran

Four convicts were sentenced to death in the city of Karaj, Iran, according to the Iran Human Rights, Report informs with reference to ir.voanews.com.

According to the information, they were convicted of illegal drug trade and intentional murder.

It was stated that Peyman Azizi, who was convicted of murder, was a teenager. He was executed as a juvenile offender.

One of the executed is a woman. This is the fifth woman to be sentenced to death and executed in 2024. In 2023, 22 women were executed in Iran. Since 2010, 215 women have been sentenced to death across the country.

It was noted that from 2013 to 2023, 4,829 people were executed in Iran, 40 of whom were children.

The last death sentence in Iran was issued on April 23 of this year against rapper Tomay Salehi. He is one of the active participants in the protests held in Iran in 2022.
