General Ben Hodges: US must increase military presence in Georgia

"The importance of Russian bases in Armenia has increased, and therefore Georgia and its partners, such as the United States, must pay attention to this," the former commander of the US military in Europe, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, told Europe Time.

According to Report, he wanted to see the US expand its infrastructure in Georgia: "In particular, the United States should strengthen its support for rotational forces and strategic air transport, as well as its presence at sea. It is part of a race of great powers to demonstrate the importance of the region."

Hodges said he was pleased with the end of military operations in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, especially civilians' killing: "I hope that the agreement will be sustainable and both sides will respect it."
