Georgia shortens quarantine time again

Georgia is again expected to shorten the quarantine period introduced in connection with the spread of the coronavirus per international practice, Report informs.

Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili instructed the Ministry of Health and the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health to discuss this issue.

At a meeting of the Intergovernmental Coordination Council it was stated that the Omicron strain accounts for 95% of infections in Georgia, and therefore hospitalization had not increased significantly. Most patients are treated at home under the supervision of family doctors.

The period of isolation and quarantine in Georgia has been reduced from 12 to 8-10 days since January 17. An eight-day quarantine is for asymptomatic patients, and a ten-day quarantine is for those with moderate to severe symptoms.
