Georgia to establish investigative commission for parliamentary elections

Georgia will set up a temporary investigative commission to investigate the parliamentary elections.

Ruling party Executive Secretary Irakli Kobakhidze stated earlier today, Georgian Bureau of Report informs.

According to him, the commission will be created on the majority's initiative after the Parliament's first session: "The commission, including experts, non-governmental organizations, international partners and all other interested parties, will investigate the parliamentary elections. If at least 1% of violations are detected, we will call early elections."

Kobakhidze said that he would stop a political activity if a commission reveals any violation.

Notably, the neighboring country held parliamentary elections on October 31. Georgian Dream won 90 seats in the Parliament. Eight opposition parties that passed to the legislative body refused their seats. The Parliament will hold the first session on December 11.
