Italian President Sergio Mattarella told Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili that Rome supports the accession of the Caucasian state into the European Union, Report informs, citing the Agenda portal.
Mattarella believes that Georgia's application for EU membership is "absolutely logical", given the country's belonging to the "European civilization". Mattarella and Zourabachvili agreed that Tbilisi and Rome have a "common position" on issues of international politics.
The Italian president also spoke about "unity" with Georgia in many areas, particularly in the economy and culture.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili revealed the terms of the country's accession to the EU - between 5 to 10 years.
