President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced a moratorium on increasing the salaries of the government members, heads of regions and deputies.

Report informs that he said this at a meeting of the Mazhilis on Tuesday.

Tokayev also recalled that the issue of salaries of officials was actively discussed at the end of 2021.

According to him, their salaries are fair. "The salaries of this category of civil servants are quite sufficient," he said.

Earlier it was reported that the president of Kazakhstan, after the protests held in the country, proposed a number of measures to reform the power structures. He spoke in favor of an increase in the number of special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard.

In addition, on Tuesday Tokayev appointed Alikhan Smailov as the prime minister of Kazakhstan, who until the resignation of the government on January 5 held the post of the country's first deputy prime minister.
