“The trilateral statement clearly spells out the commitments that the Armenian side must fulfill. In accordance with them, Armenia must withdraw all armed formations from the zone controlled by the Russian peacekeepers. It is necessary to use regular measures of political pressure, including from the Russian leadership, so that it also unblock transport communications and begin the process of delimitation and demarcation of borders,” military expert, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko told the Russian bureau of Report.
According to the political scientist, Armenia provokes Azerbaijan with constant shelling, thus trying to drag Baku into some kind of border conflict, hoping that this won’t develop into a big war.
“The provocative policy of Armenia will sooner or later run into a definite response from Azerbaijan. Yerevan needs to draw practical conclusions since the path to revenge is the road to nowhere,” the expert noted.
Korotchenko is convinced that most of the Armenian society doesn’t want to find itself in the situation in which it was in November last year. In his opinion, the political elite of Armenia should learn from this.
“It is necessary to maintain good-neighborly relations, whether Yerevan wants it or not. There is no other alternative, and there won’t be any,” the Russian political scientist concluded.
