“It is not clear what Kyiv had in mind when speaking about the participation of the US in a dialogue with Russia - if the main issue is the Donbass, Russia is not a party to the conflict, and the US is not needed to discuss bilateral topics,” Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, Report informs referring to RIA Novosti.
He was commenting on the possibility of holding a trilateral summit of the Russian Federation-Ukraine-US, proposed by Kyiv.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kyiv considers it possible to work out a trilateral meeting of the presidents of Russia, the US and Ukraine. The White House reported that the US had nothing to report on the possibility of holding such a summit, and the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti that there were no proposals from the American side.
“As far as I remember, there was no clarification of what it is proposed to talk about in the trilateral format... In this case, we still have to find out what our Ukrainian opponents propose to discuss with Russia about the Donbass. Russia is not a party to the conflict,” Peskov told reporters in response to a question whether the Kremlin is considering holding such a summit.
