Romania, Türkiye to establish working group on security in Black Sea

Romania and Türkiye will establish a bilateral working group on security in the Black Sea, Romanian Foreign Minister, Bogdan Aurescu, said during a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, Report informs.

"The Romanian foreign minister informed his American counterpart about the proposal to establish a bilateral Romanian-Turkish working group on security in the Black Sea, which was approved by his Turkish counterpart (Mevlut Cavusoglu) in December 2022. The American side highly appreciated this initiative," Romanian MFA said.

During the conversation, the diplomats discussed "the possibilities of strengthening stability in the Black Sea region through a strategic approach that will boost its status as an important trade and energy route."

In this context, Aurescu reminded his American colleague that the document containing the "assessments and ideas" of the official Bucharest was submitted to the official Washington.

The telephone conversation between the senior diplomats of Romania and the United States took place within the framework of preparations for the eighth meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between Romania and the US, which will be held in Bucharest in March this year.
