Russia views events in Kazakhstan as external attempt to undermine country’s integrity

Moscow regards recent events in Kazakhstan as an externally inspired attempt to violently undermine the country’s security and integrity, reads a statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry in connection with the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council to send the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the organization to Kazakhstan, Report informs referring to TASS.

“The Russian Federation, having reaffirmed its adherence to allied commitments within the CSTO, has supported the adoption of urgent measures in connection with the rapid degradation of the internal political situation and the growth of violence in Kazakhstan. We view the recent events in a friendly country as an attempt, inspired by external forces, to undermine the security and integrity of the state by force, using trained and organized armed formations,” the statement says.

Russia will continue close consultations with Kazakhstan and its allies in the CSTO to facilitate the conduct of the counter-terrorist operation in the republic.

“The Russian Federation will continue close consultations with the Kazakh side and other allies in the CSTO to analyze and develop, if necessary, further effective steps, primarily to facilitate the conduct of the counter-terrorist operation by the law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan, to ensure the safety of all civilians of this country, without exception, as well as vital critical infrastructure facilities, their unblocking and return under the control of the Kazakh authorities,” reads the document.

The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that Moscow is interested in the soonest restoration of normal life in Kazakhstan.
