"Mikheil Saakashvili is a political prisoner and, as a Georgian citizen, I fully support the demand for his release," Saakashvili's ex-wife Sandra Roelofs wrote on her Facebook account.
Report's local bureau informs that the former first lady said her friends and supporters were interested in her personal life: "I will not hide that the content of the video, which was released on Friday (October 1 - ed.), was unexpected for me, and the form was absolutely unacceptable."
Roelofs noted that despite her emotions, she remains calm: "I believe that we will emerge victorious from this struggle."
After the former Georgian president was detained in Tbilisi on October 1, a video of him with Ukrainian MP Elizabeth Yasko was shared on his Facebook page. The video says they got married.
Saakashvili has been married to Roelofs since the mid-1990s and they have two sons. There have been no reports of their divorce.
