Turkey eyes making new constitution’s text public in 2022

The Turkish authorities plan to reveal the text of the new constitution in the first half of 2022, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the 7th congress of the ruling Justice and Development Party, Report informs referring to Turkish media.

“We expect to prepare it in the first half of next year, and we will certainly present it to the people for approval,” he said.

He noted that the constitution “is already 29 years old, and in the historical context it has lost its relevance.”

“We see that constitutions in the world change even more often. There are states in which the basic law doesn’t change for a long time, and they have such stability due to the simplicity of the constitution text,” the Turkish leader emphasized.

Erdogan said that the new constitution will take into account all domestic and international realities and become fully inclusive for every Turkish citizen.
