Turkish Air Force conducts exercises with NATO task force on F-16 fighters

The Turkish Air Force has conducted exercises with the NATO Very High Readiness Joint Task Force with the participation of F-16 fighters, Report informs referring to the Turkish Ministry of Defense.

“The exercises on cooperation in naval aviation were carried out with elements of the NATO combat task force with the participation of F-16 aircraft, which are in service with the 6th Main Jet Base of the Air Force Command (Turkey),” the report says.

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal writes that Ankara has sent a request to the US for the supply of missiles and radars for its fleet of F-16 fighter jets for $400 million. This request will be considered by Congress.

The US previously sent an official notice to Turkey about its exclusion from the program for the supply of the latest F-35 fighters due to Ankara’s purchase of Russian S-400 air defense systems. The US canceled the joint memorandum on the F-35 with Turkey, signing it with the seven remaining partners in the F-35 project - the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Australia, Denmark, Canada and Norway.
