Turkish President Erdogan to hold session of Security Council

The first session of the National Security Council of Turkiye in 2023 will be held on Wednesday, January 25, Report informs via Anadolu.

Presided by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the event will focus on war on terror, including operations in the north of Iraq and Syria. The participants in the session will exchange views on anti-terror operations codenamed Pence.

They will also raise the shooting by terrorists of the border control checkpoint Oncupinar from the Syrian territory and the dialogue with Damascus that started for the first time over the past 12 years.

Another important issue on the agenda will be the provocative actions of Greece, which illegally deploys weapons on the islands that, according to international agreements, are considered "demilitarized zones." There will be an exchange of views on the situation in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean, including in Cyprus.

The topic of Ukraine, including the "grain corridor" will also be discussed. The meeting participants will consider Ankara's peaceful mediation initiatives, as well as issues of humanitarian aid supplies and achieving a long-term ceasefire in Ukraine.

Separately, the situation in Sweden will be touched upon, where provocations have recently taken place against Erdogan and the Holy Quran. In the light of these provocations, an exchange of views will take place on the applications of Sweden and Finland to NATO.
