The counting of votes cast in the early presidential elections in Turkmenistan continues. The final results will be announced on March 14, Report informs.
The counting of votes from some polling stations at the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Turkmenistan abroad is currently ongoing, which are received with a delay due to the difference in time zones.
Nine candidates ran for presidency, including six candidates from initiative groups of five regions and Ashgabat, as well as three candidates from the Democratic Party, the Agrarian Party and the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
The voting process was followed by 2,726 national observers, as well as foreign observers from the CIS, SCO and a number of neighboring countries.
The inauguration ceremony of the newly elected President of Turkmenistan will be held on March 19 at the Oguzhan Palace Complex.
