The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is discussing initiatives to weaken mobilization measures for men of military age, however, as of now, they will not be included in the agenda, Report informs, citing comments of Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk for RBC-Ukraine.
"We are deeply convinced that all issues related to the current mobilization regime, which applies to men aged 18-60, are not without reasons. This is the number of the male population of Ukraine that can defend the independence of Ukraine," he said, noting that some changes are being considered. At the same time, it is necessary to think over them so that these changes do not lead to abuse.
“For example, the issue of allowing students [to go abroad] was considered. And some say: we will now have a sharp increase in the number of people who will enter higher education institutions. On the one hand, it’s good if they go to study. On the other hand, the real reason for it can be completely different - leaving the country," the speaker explained.
