Ukraine's Rada appoints new head of National Bank

The Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine has appointed ex-head of Oschadbank Andriy Pyshny to the post of head of the National Bank of Ukraine.

Report informs via Ukrainian media that the corresponding decisions were supported by 290 MPs on Friday.

Pyshnyi, 48, is the former head of Ukraine's state-run Oschadbank and has helped advise the government on sanctions against Russia, which invaded Ukraine in February, and against Moscow's ally Belarus.

Pyshnyi replaced Kyrylo Shevchenko, who quit on Tuesday citing health reasons.
