Uzbek deputy FM: Developed transport hub - future of Central Asia

Uzbekistan sees the Central Asian region in the future as a transport hub developed in all directions with the possibility of access to the Caspian basin, Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Furkat Siddikov said at a meeting in Tashkent within the expert platform “Establishing Good Neighborly Relations in Central Asia: Pragmatic Foreign Policy of Uzbekistan,” Report informs.

“We want our region to become a transport hub, including with access to the Caspian Sea,” Siddikov said.

In recent years, Uzbekistan has achieved a radical transformation in relations with neighbors in the region, raising them to a new level, the deputy minister said. At the same time, relations with all the regional states of Central Asia have been upgraded to strategic level.

However, the countries of the region face new tasks and challenges, especially in connection with the new situation in Afghanistan. These tasks are to be solved, including in relations with Afghanistan, he added.
