Yerevan court arrests ex-deputy for calls to kill Pashinyan

On January 29, the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court, presided by Judge Manvel Shahverdyan, granted the request of the NSS investigator to choose arrest as a preventive measure against the former deputy of the Armenian parliament Vahan Badasyan, attorney Arayik Papikyan said.

Report informs referring to the Armenian press that, according to the lawyer, Badasyan was being transferred to a penal institution.

Talking to reporters on January 28, Badasyan announced that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan must leave. "If he does not go away, then it means that we will terminate him physically, with the help of weapons. I will begin to organize the process." After that, he was detained by the Armenian National Security Service.

Badasyan was charged under Article 301 of the Armenian Criminal Code (public calls for a violent seizure of power, violation of territorial integrity, or violent overthrow of the constitutional order). Badasyan does not accept the charges brought against him.
