A total of 2,233,261 passengers were transported by air from Azerbaijan in the first eight months of 2024, marking a 32.1% increase year-on-year, Report informs, citing the country’s State Tourism Agency.
During this period, 602,569 passengers from Azerbaijan visited Russia (up 27%). Following Russia, Türkiye saw 590,735 passengers (up 17.4%), and the United Arab Emirates had 268,779 passengers (up 37.7%).
Other significant contributors included Georgia with 132,839 passengers (up 39.1%), Saudi Arabia with 84,609 passengers (up 16.4%), India with 69,372 passengers (up 6.3 times), Kazakhstan with 61,953 passengers (up 28.1%), Qatar with 41,768 passengers (up 2 times), Italy with 41,325 passengers (up 2 times), and Kuwait with 34,229 passengers (up 30.5%).
Conversely, Uzbekistan saw a decrease with 28,018 passengers (down 32.7%), Israel had 25,902 passengers (down 16.3%), and Germany had 20,156 passengers (down 14.1%).
In August alone, 396,955 passengers traveled from Azerbaijan by air, a 23.8% increase compared to the same month last year. Specifically, the number of visitors to Türkiye increased by 5% year-on-year, reaching 106,685 people.
