IATA launches International Travel Pass Initiative

The first passenger with a digital passport arrived at London's Heathrow Airport, said the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Report informs, citing Kommersant, that the Travel Pass owner arrived in the UK on a Singapore Airlines flight. The program's goal is to make travel more accessible and safer in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Travel Pass program was loaded the user's vaccination information, coronavirus test results, antibody presence, and other data. The program also allows travelers to obtain the necessary knowledge about the requirements to be met when traveling to a particular country, finding information about tests and vaccination centers, and giving a test or getting a vaccination certificate. The application is currently only available on Singapore-London flights.

Plans to launch the IATA program were announced in February. Until then, Air New Zealand, Copa Airlines, Etihad Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Malaysia Airlines, RwandAir, and Singapore Airlines have all expressed interest in participating in the project. IATA believes the program will stimulate the recovery of air passenger traffic.
