Reason for declaring Azerbaijan’s Shamakhi tourist capital of Turkic states revealed

Shamakhi is one of the important Azerbaijani cities located on the Silk Road, which has historical and tourist significance. It is for this reason that it was chosen as the tourist capital of the Turkic world in 2023, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Mirvahid Azimov said, Report informs.

“In addition, Shamakhi was the center of the Azerbaijani state of the Shirvanshahs. I will also note another fact, this city is known for historical and cultural monuments. It is for this reason that we also chose Shamakhi as the tourist center of the Turkic states. I am sure that the events that we will hold in one year will increase interest in this city.”

The city of Shamakhi has been declared a tourist center of the Turkic world from January 2023 to January 2024.
