Tourist flow from Azerbaijan to Ukraine grows 67%

In the first six months in 2021, 1.424 million foreigners visited Ukraine, which is 31 percent less than in the first half of 2020 (2 million people) and 75 percent less than in the first six months of 2019 (almost 6 million people), Report informs referring to the press service of the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine.

At the same time, there is a significant increase in visitors to Ukraine in the second quarter of 2021. During the corresponding period, 3.4 million foreigners arrived in Ukraine, which is four times more than in 2020.

In the first half of 2021, there was positive dynamics of an increase in the tourist flow from countries such as Saudi Arabia (40 times), the US (+69.6 percent), Azerbaijan (+67 percent), Armenia (+100 percent), and Georgia (+40 percent). In addition, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Belarus, and Turkey remain traditional markets for Ukraine.

The agency clarified that 70 percent of foreigners who visited Ukraine are those from European countries (10 percent less than in 2020), 24 percent are representatives of the Asian region (8 percent more), 2.8 percent came from North America, and 1.7 percent are citizens of the African continent.

At the same time, in the first half of the year, the Ukrainians made 15 percent more trips abroad than last year (a total of 5.7 million citizens). Turkey (774,000 people) and Egypt (705,000 people) remain traditional destinations.

Also, new tourist centers have appeared, and more Ukrainians are coming there. In particular, these are the Dominican Republic (+228 percent and 35,000 people), Qatar (11,500 people), Maldives (10,000 people), Tanzania (7,000 people) and Sri Lanka (2,500 people).
