Faig Mutallimov: One of goals of COP is to ensure adherence to commitments against threats

One of the objectives of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is to ensure the adherence of countries to their commitments against the expected scenarios, the head of the environmental policy department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, Faig Mutallimov, said in the panel titled ‘Media Agenda in the Year of Solidarity for a Green World’ at the forum on ‘Public Processes at the Media Level’ held today in Baku, Report informs.

Mutallimov stated that a 15% decrease in water resources has been observed in Azerbaijan for several decades: "This has had a serious impact on various sectors, especially the agricultural sector. At the same time, there has been a decrease in temperature in recent years and a serious decrease in the level of the Caspian Sea due to a number of reasons. It affects coastal zones more. I think COP29 is an important platform for discussing such issues."
