Zhukov: ADB offers Azerbaijan its support in hosting COP29

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is very pleased that ADB member country Azerbaijan will be hosting COP29 this year and has reached out to the country's senior leadership offering its support, Evgeniy Zhukov, Director General of the ADB Regional Department for Central and Western Asia, said during a briefing in Tbilisi, Report informs.

“As we saw last year at COP28 in Dubai, being elected COP chair actually gives the host country a big incentive to take further action to reduce the impacts of climate change, as well as reduce the carbon footprint of the economy. In the case of Azerbaijan, the government has announced that it will achieve a 30% reduction by 2030,” he said.

According to Zhukov, ADB is working very closely with the Azerbaijani government on this issue.
