The brutality, the mass atrocities committed by France against the people of Algeria and other countries in Africa, South-East Asia, is something that the world must never forget, but it must demand justice, Aydin Safikhanli, Chief Of Staff at the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, member of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation said at the international conference on "Islamophobia as a Specific Form of Racism and Discrimination: New Global and Transnational Challenges".

"We must do everything possible to avoid these tragedies in the future," he said.

According to him, for more than 130 years, France has waged a terrible war against the Algerian people, which has claimed the lives of more than 1.5 million Algerians.

"One of the current problems to human rights at the international level is the issue of bringing to justice all those responsible for crimes against peace and humanity, and war crimes.

"In this regard, international law has developed a number of mechanisms. One of them is international tribunals. International tribunals are a mechanism established to bring justice to individuals and states accused of international crimes, as well as victims of such crimes," he said.
