Ministry official: Sea transportation through Middle Corridor increased

In 2023, sea transportation through the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route) increased, Fariz Aliyev, head of the transport policy department at the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, said at the event "Re-evaluation of Azerbaijan-China Relations: The Way Forward," Report informs.

According to him, the Middle Corridor is currently developing within the framework of regional cooperation: "It was realized thanks to strategic goals because an efficient and sustainable transport system cannot be realized alone."

Noting that Azerbaijan has contributed to the development of the Middle Corridor, Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan, which plays the role of a bridge between Europe and Asia, has great transit opportunities: "Azerbaijan has made investments for the renewal of transport infrastructure over the past 20 years. Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway and Baku International Sea Trade Port are among the most important projects in this direction."

The head of the department believes that since China is one of the countries with the largest economic power in the world, there are important points for Azerbaijan to learn from this country.

Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan supported China's Belt and Road Initiative.
